Kominfo x DQLab: Learn Python for Data Professionals in the Digital Age

Tangerang – When entering the digital era, coding programming language is a skill that is no less important in the future. This is also supported by real-case industries, where many companies have started implementing Big Data and need professional data practitioners who can use coding programming languages to help analyze data sets.

So to help the generation become more data literate and improve the profession of professional data practitioners, DQLab, an online education platform with Kominfo, provides a programming learning experience packaged as “Data Engineer event: Python for Data Professional.”

This program aims to introduce and learn more about Python with professional data practitioners, namely Daniel Lumban Gaol as MNC Group Data Engineer and DQLab Mentor. This event was held online on Monday, March 6, 2023.

Python is one of the most flexible programming languages; almost all professional data practitioners use this programming language. Python is not a new programming language. It was first developed in late 1991 by Guido Van Rossum.

“Python is often used because the language is easy to learn for beginners and has a lot of libraries/modules and is supported by a very large community,” Daniel said.

After introducing and explaining Python, Daniel also explained more about the use of Variables, getting to know Assign, explaining Data Types in Python, Mathematical Operators, Collections & Indexes in Collection in Python, which are very important before programming.

During the webinar, participants asked several questions about learning python, the data profession, and the opportunities to work in the industry as a professional data practitioner before conducting a hands-on session with Daniel.

“If you want to have a career in data/Data Engineering, you need to master programming languages such as Python or SQL,” said Daniel answering one of the participant’s questions. 

Python has a vital role in the data field because the use of Python itself helps to process data, visualize data, and build Machine Learning. If you want to be a reliable data practitioner, make sure you master Python well.

Understanding the basics of Python is very important before moving on to more advanced levels. Structured learning also helps beginners learn Python from scratch to become professional data practitioners in the industry.
